Since 1993, Polskie Towarzystwo Informacji Naukowej [Polish Society for Scholarly Information has published a quarterly entitled Praktyka i Teoria Informacji Naukowej i Technicznej (PTINT) [Practice and Theory of Scholarly and Technical Information], dealing with information science and related issues. Discussed in the journal are the most important and topical theoretical and practical problems (approached from an interdisciplinary perspective) being of interest to authors and users of information. The journal features monographic papers, notices, reviews, and reports. The materials are published in Polish and accompanied by abstracts in Polish and English. Selected volumes contain also papers in English.

Every academic paper submitted for publication in “PTINT” quarterly must comply with all requirements set for academic papers published for the first time; in particular:

the paper must be an original work;

not previously published;

not approved for publishing in any other journal or book;

the content of the paper cannot infringe any copyrights or neighbouring rights;

the paper cannot be a source of any conflict of interest;

ghost-writing or guest authorship practices are not permitted.

Every paper submitted to the editors of “PTINT” is subject to double-blind review process where neither authors nor reviewers know their respective identities. Papers pre-selected for publishing are subsequently subject to external review, according to the special form [Review form]

The review is based on the following criteria: consistence of the paper’s subject-matter with the thematic profile of the journal, originality of the conclusions presented, representativeness of the reference list enclosed, adequateness of language and terminology. Due to the review process, the estimated period of waiting for the decision about publication is not less than four months. Non-academic papers are not subject to external review and the decision about publication is made directly by the Chief Editor. The editors reserve the right to shorten the texts and to introduce changes consulted with the author.

Digitalized older PTINT volumes are available from the Library Science Digital Library.

Integrity in science is one of the foundations of quality. Readers should be assured that the authors of the publication in a transparent, honest and fairly present the results of their work, regardless of whether they are the direct authors or used the aid of a specialized entity (natural or legal person).

Evidence of ethical attitudes researcher and the highest editorial standards should be transparency of information on entities that contribute to the creation of publications (technical input, material, financial, etc.), which is a manifestation not only good manners, but also social responsibility.

Examples are opposed ghostwriting and guest authorship.

With ghostwriting we have to do if someone has made a substantial contribution to the publication, without revealing his participation as one of the authors or without mention of his role in the acknowledgments in the publication.
