By virtue of the decision issued on 27th May 1992 by the Regional Court in Warsaw, 7th Chamber of Civil Affairs and Registry, the Polish Society for Scholarly Information (PTIN) has been entered in the register of associations under the number 1385-1392. PTIN, as a self-governing association of a nationwide scope, is endowed with legal personality, gathers its members on a voluntary basis, and its activities are based on the voluntary work of the members. The registration of PTIN was the fulfillment of the expectations expressed by the milieu of Polish information professionals and users, convinced of the need for integration of information and library science.
