By virtue of the decision issued on 27th May 1992 by the Regional Court in Warsaw, 7th Chamber of Civil Affairs and Registry, the Polish Society for Scholarly Information (PTIN) has been entered in the register of associations under the number 1385-1392.
PTIN, as a self-governing association of a nationwide scope, is endowed with legal personality, gathers its members on a voluntary basis, and its activities are based on the voluntary work of the members. The registration of PTIN was the fulfillment of the expectations expressed by the milieu of Polish information professionals and users, convinced of the need for integration of information and library science. The full range of PTIN activities is defined by the statute and the resolutions and provisions of the General Assembly of the Society. Any change in the statute requires a resolution of the PTIN General Assembly adopted by a majority of 2/3 votes of the members present at the meeting.
The first General Assembly of PTIN was held on 29th July 1992 in Warsaw. In a secret ballot, the Assembly elected the Management Board, the Audit Commission and the Arbitration Committee. The term of office of the Societys authorities shall be of three years. The seat of the Society is Warsaw.
PTIN financial assets include: sums deriving from registration and membership fees income resulting from the activities of the Society funds from grants, subsidies and donations income from movable and immovable property owned by the Society.
The property of the Society is managed by the Executive Committee of PTIN Management Board based on cost estimates approved by the Board.
